After returning from a month long humanitarian aid trip to Tanzania in the summer of 2011, my brother, Jordan Lewis, went to see his doctor to check the cause of his chronic nosebleeds that he was having on his trip. After seeing the results of his MRI he was shown that he had an orange size tumor, which had originated in his sinuses and had worked its way into his brain. A biopsy a few days later showed that it was cancerous. Jordan immediately started meeting with doctors who were putting together his personal treatment plan. The tumor had encompassed both of his optic nerves and parts of his brain, so there was no way they could simply remove the tumor. After multiple surgeries, 8 chemotherapy treatments and 71 radiation treatments Jordan is now cancer free with 20/20 eyesight! Jordan took the fall semester off from college only to come back in the spring of 2012 to finish his last few courses and graduate on time.
